The Hound of Cullen

This piece was created as the culmination of my three years of study at university, i had an open brief to make whatever model i wanted using whichever discipline. What i chose was a creature costume that could be used at actual live roleplay events in combat and as an interactive prop, in this way i could not only make something for university, but something that would further my career and be of actual use at events rather  than just get marked and sit upon a shelf.

The brief i set myself was 'the Hound of Cullen' a legendary creature from Irish myth, although liberties were definatly taken in the design process.

The costume is made of different types of foam built around some home made stilts and a pair of crutches. The kit was extensively tried on and adjusted throughout the build process and once a final fit had been achieved, the foam work was coated either in liquid latex and paint, or in a long haired fake fur.

The front arms are created to be used in combat at events and meet the rules specifications as laid down by all of the major UK systems.
